FICG 2025 - Mayahuel
Manufacturing process for the awards for the Guadalajara International Film Festival.
At Art21Studio , creating awards for the Guadalajara International Film Festival is a process that combines advanced techniques and craftsmanship, creating unique pieces that pay tribute to cinematic talent.
The base of each award is made from stainless steel, selected for its durability and elegant finish. We use CNC laser cutting technology to achieve precise and detailed cuts, allowing us to shape the base with the exacting precision required by the design. This base is then carefully bent to resemble the shape of a film slat, thus evoking the art and history of cinema.
Once the base is complete, we engrave the letterheads on the awards. Each piece bears the official Guadalajara International Film Festival logo, as well as the names and categories of the winners. This customization process adds a symbolic and distinctive value to each award.
The topmost element of the tribute, known as the Mayahuel , is cast using the lost-wax casting process. This artisanal method allows for the creation of complex details and representative organic shapes. Depending on the type of tribute, the Mayahuel is cast in different metals:
· Silicon bronze is used for most surveys, which provides strength and a warm finish.
· For special tributes, the Mayahuel is cast in solid silver, giving the piece an even more exclusive character.
The creation of awards at Art21Studio is a process that combines cutting-edge technology and traditional techniques. Each piece is the result of meticulous and personalized work, reflecting respect and admiration for those who contribute to film culture.
