Collaboration between sculptor Gustavo Vélez and Art21Studio
Joint creation of abstract bronze sculptures
Gustavo Vélez is a renowned Colombian sculptor born in Medellín in 1975. Throughout his career, he has distinguished himself for his exploration of abstract forms and his use of materials such as marble, stainless steel, and bronze. His works have been exhibited in galleries and museums in various countries, establishing him as an important figure in contemporary Latin American art.
In collaboration with Art21Studio , Gustavo Vélez created two abstract sculptures using the lost-wax bronze casting technique. During the creative process, Vélez modeled the first sculpture using Styrofoam and clay, materials that allowed him to experiment with dynamic and organic forms. For the second piece, he chose to model with Styrofoam and plaster of Paris, seeking distinct textures and volumes.
Once the models were completed, Art21Studio was responsible for making the molds for both sculptures, an essential step for bronze casting.
Thanks to this collaboration, Vélez's artistic work took definitive form in metal, showcasing the combined talent of artist and workshop, resulting in two unique pieces that reflect contemporary sensibility and technical mastery in abstract sculpture.
