Mobile Sculptures

Artistic collaboration between Alejandra Gómez and Art21Studio

Alejandra Gómez is a contemporary artist from Guadalajara whose career is distinguished by her experimentation with diverse materials and her exploration of themes related to nature, memory, and human interaction. Her work encompasses painting, sculpture, and installation, and is often characterized by a dialogue between the organic and the industrial, as well as the use of natural elements such as flowers, branches, and minerals, integrated into compositions that invite reflection on time and space.

In the most recent collaboration between Alejandra Gómez and Art21Studio, the team focused on developing mobile sculptures that reinterpret the concept articulated by Alexander Calder, giving the pieces a unique visual language. The mobiles created in this project are inspired by the observation of repetitive patterns in nature, geometric forms, and dynamic balance, all recurrent elements in Gómez’s work.

For the creation of these works, materials such as stainless steel, copper, brass, and acrylic were used, carefully selected to achieve a combination of strength, lightness, and transparency. Alejandra Gómez designed the suspended structures considering not only aesthetic aspects but also the physical properties and movement generated by air currents or viewer interaction. The sculptures reach heights between 1.4 and 2.1 meters, creating true three-dimensional landscapes that react to and transform with their environment.

During the creative process, the artist worked closely with the Art21Studio technical team to experiment with the balance of the mobile elements and adjust the composition according to light, space, and visual rhythm. This joint effort resulted in pieces that stand out not only for their elegance and technical sophistication but also for evoking sensations of harmony, contemplation, and wonder.

Alejandra Gómez’sartistic practice has been recognized in solo and group exhibitions both in Mexico and abroad. Her work invites viewers to rediscover the expressive potential of materials and to reflect on the sensitive connections between people, objects, and nature. This collaboration with Art21Studio represents another chapter in her ongoing quest to transform the everyday into artistic and sensory experience.
