Benito Zamora

Benito Zamora Plastic Artist

Benito Zamora is a self-taught artist, though he sharpened his craft through lessons with several teachers in his youth. He began his artistic journey at a remarkably young age and has since racked up an impressive body of work, showcased in numerous exhibitions.

Domestically, Benito has exhibited at prestigious venues such as Exconvento del Carmen, Casa de la Cultura Jalisco, Palacio de Bellas Artes, Museo de Arte Moderno, and Galería Avil. His international presence includes exhibitions in San Francisco, California; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Denver, Colorado; and Granada, Spain.

Benito’s talent has been recognized with several accolades, including the National Young Art Award of Aguascalientes, which he received twice. He also earned an honorable mention at the Salón de Octubre in Guadalajara (1980) and was selected by art critic Raquel Tibol to participate in the traveling exhibition Plástica de Jalisco 1980. Further honors include an honorable mention in graphic art at the Cuitzmala Award (ICC, 1988), first prize in graphic art at the Tonalá Fair (1990), and recognition for drawing and sculpture at Salón de Octubre (1992). In 1995, he was also recognized by the Chamber of Commerce. With over 50 years of artistic experience, Benito's contributions to the art world are profound.

Primarily known for his figurative work, Benito’s art resides within a realm of magical realism, though his creations are deeply personal, methodical, and uniquely his own. His imaginative visions have evolved over decades, with forms often intertwined or harmoniously fused, living in symbiosis.

While his primary medium is painting, Benito has also created sculptural work, including bronze pieces produced in collaboration with Art21Studio.
