Daniel Kent

Daniel Kent Plastic Artist.

Daniel Kent is a self-taught visual artist from Guadalajara, Jalisco, with a distinguished career spanning both pictorial and sculptural disciplines. In addition to his art, he has collaborated with literature, illustration, dance, and theater, further showcasing his multifaceted creativity. His work has been displayed in exhibitions both in Mexico and internationally.

Over the years, Daniel’s artistic journey has been defined by constant experimentation. He began with classical techniques, such as tempera, in his youth, but his creative evolution has led him to develop a unique, surreal figurative style filled with symbolism. His art is deeply rooted in fantastic realism that emerges from chaos, which, through his expertise, he channels into the creation of fauns, magicians, and female figures in Dantesque landscapes interacting with imaginary creatures or medieval observers.

Daniel Kent is one of the pioneering artists to collaborate with Francisco Quiroz in the early experiments of Art21Studioover 40 years ago, fusing chemistry with the visual arts. These groundbreaking experiments led to the development of a polymeric oil formula designed for outdoor use, which Daniel has used to create large-scale works. Notably, one

of his pieces is installed in the Mexico City subway, and another graces the exterior wall of the Raúl Anguiano MURA Museum.

One of Daniel's most ambitious projects is the monumental bronze sculpture titled Chemical Weddings, standing 8 meters tall. The mold is now complete, and a full-scale polymer replica of the work was exhibited in 2022 for several months at the Santander Complex on the campus of the University of Guadalajara in Jalisco.
