Yenisett Torres

Image of plastic work.

Yenisett Torres was born in Zapopan, Mexico. She began her art career at an early age, supported and influenced by her mother, who was her first teacher, as she was also a ceramist. At first, she collaborated in several workshops of artisans and renowned artists; such as Sergio Bustamante's workshop and Alejandro Colunga's. Later, she participated in the design department of Grupo Vidanta, particularly for the Mayan Palace hotel chain. This collaboration led her to work on the design of several monumental interior design projects, since the theme of the chain is inspired by that culture, of which Yenisett has extensive knowledge as a restorer of pre-Hispanic works.

Yenisett 's work is mostly figurative, with pre-Hispanic, surrealist influences and an Art Nouveau aesthetic. She makes use of object art to a certain extent; her works take up pre-Hispanic mythologies from a modern perspective, interweaving current problems and encoding discrete symbolism in each of her pieces, always exploring new materials and paths.

The first interactions between Yenisett and Art21Studio took place more than 15 years ago with the association between her and Grupo Vidanta, given that some of these projects, such as the 16-meter-high “priest,” are manufactured under her supervision in our workshops.

Today Art21Studio has become Yenisett 's second studio, the first being her home.
