Yenisett Torres

Image of plastic work.

Yenisett Torres was born in Zapopan, Mexico. She began her artistic career at an early age, supported and influenced by her mother, who was her first teacher and a ceramist herself. Initially, she collaborated in several workshops with renowned artists, such as Alejandro Colunga. Later, she worked with the design department of Grupo Vidanta, particularly for the Mayan Palace hotel chain. This collaboration led her to work on several monumental interior design projects, as the chain's themes are inspired by that culture, of which Yenisett has extensive knowledge as a restorer of pre-Hispanic works.

Yenisett 's work is predominantly figurative, with pre-Hispanic, surrealist, and Art Nouveau influences. She makes use of object art to a certain extent, and her works revisit pre-Hispanic mythologies from a modern perspective, interweaving current issues and encoding discrete symbolism in each of her pieces, always exploring new materials and avenues.

The first interactions between Yenisett and Art21Studio began more than 15 years ago with the partnership between her and Grupo Vidanta, given that some of these projects, such as the 16-meter-high "priest," are manufactured under her supervision in our workshops.

Today, Art21Studio has become Yenisett 's second studio, the first being her home.
