Art21Studio

Carina Wall was born in 1961 and completed her fine arts education in Stockholm in 1985. She lives mainly in Stockholm, although she frequently travels around the world, especially to Greece and Mexico, making her first visit to Art21Studio in 2000. For several years she coordinated the teaching department at the Edsvik Konstskola art school.

One of the ways Carina works is that in the evenings she organizes materials and ideas which she develops and materializes throughout the night. As a characteristic, she prefers a dim light, supported by the moon and candles, revealing the intense colors of the pigments chosen during the night trance the next morning. Her works are made of mixed materials since she mixes acrylic or oil paints with solvents and powdered pigments. Combinations that she applies directly on the canvas or paper that can be on the floor horizontally or playing with different inclinations.

Her work can be likened to abstract expressionism, with a use of vibrant colours. Carina 's works can be read in two ways: first, when viewed in low light or at night, similar to how she observes them during the creation process. Second, when viewed in daylight/gallery light, which releases the intensity of the materials and pigments chosen.

During her numerous visits to Art21Studio, Carina has explored various techniques and materials. Some of these are: stained glass, oils, acrylics, polymeric oils and resins.
