Eduardo Quiñones (geometric figure)

Manufacturing by CNC router of geometric figure for Eduardo Quiñones.

Project carried out in close collaboration with artist Eduardo Quiñones, who initially provided us with a simple sketch, drawn freehand with pencil on a sheet of paper. This sketch served as the starting point for the creative and technical process developed at Art21Studio. From the original drawing, the team of specialists generated a digital three-dimensional (3D) model, in which possible inaccuracies were corrected and proportions optimized, ensuring a result faithful to the artist’s intent.

This 3D model underwent a rendering process, creating realistic images that allowed for an early visualization of the final appearance of the piece. These renders were personally reviewed and validated by Eduardo Quiñones, who approved the design and confirmed the adjusted dimensions according to his specific requirements, establishing a final height of 90 cm for the piece.

With the model approved and measurements defined, the most suitable technical route was determined to materialize the sketch into a physical form. MDF wood was chosen as the primary material due to its ease of handling, dimensional stability, and quality of finish, allowing for a precise and professional representation of the designed geometry.

For the fabrication of the different elements that make up the figure, advanced CNC router cutting technology was used, ensuring precision and uniformity in each piece. At this stage, careful preparation of the digital files that would guide the cutting process was essential, guaranteeing the correct interpretation of the shapes and details defined in the three-dimensional model.

Once all cuts were made, the pieces were meticulously assembled using specialized techniques to ensure structural stability and perfect alignment of the elements. Subsequently, a layer of automotive paste was applied over the entire surface to refine details, smooth transitions, and perfect the geometric forms. This finishing process was essential to elevate the aesthetic quality and prepare the piece for its final stage. Finally, a coat of acrylic primer was applied to seal and homogenize the surface, leaving the work ready to receive final finishes or additional pictorial interventions, as required by the artist. In this way, a manual sketch was transformed into a high-quality contemporary sculpture, respecting Eduardo Quiñones’screative vision and meeting professional standards of artistic production.Long Project Description.
