Rafael Levy small "Horse"

3D printing for mold manufacturing and subsequent casting in bronze.

Digital sculpture created by artist Rafael Levy, who developed the original model using advanced computer-aided design tools. Subsequently, the Art21Studio team carried out a specialized post-production process using Rhino software, which enabled the precise sectioning of the digital model for its physical realization. Thanks to this methodology, a high-fidelity 3D print was obtained, serving as the foundation for the next stage of the process.

Starting from the 3D print, a mold was made from silicone and fiberglass—materials selected for their ability to capture intricate details and ensure the mold’s durability throughout the reproduction process. This mold was used to create an exact wax replica of the piece, faithfully reproducing the textures and original forms of the digital design.

The resulting wax sculpture was used in the traditional “lost-wax casting” process, an age-old technique that transforms the wax model into a final bronze artwork. Through this method, a high-quality sculptural piece is achieved, preserving the aesthetic integrity and details conceived by the artist from the digital stage to its final form in metal.
